Appointments

Appointments System

Appointments are made through the receptionist team, either by telephone or in person during office hours. They can also be booked online (details below) - although number of online appointments are currently limited.

Cases of the Delta variant in the UK, are rising exponentially. We must take all steps possible to deliver care that is safe for our patients and protects our staff. Social distancing and infection protection and control measures are still in force and, like many surgeries, we have a restricted waiting area. The only safe way to proceed is to continue to triage everyone; it is not yet safe for patients to walk into our building without a prior assessment.

ALL ROUTINE GP APPOINTMENTS NOW AVAILABLE FACE-TO-FACE!

In July 2022 we made several changes to our appointment system and these have been going well and we thank you for bearing with us during the transition period.

We are pleased to announce that further to this, all routine, pre-bookable afternoon appointments with a GP are now available as face-to-face (F2F) appointments.

However, we know that some of our patients have found telephone (or video) appointments more convenient so this option still available – it is your choice!

Therefore, when booking a routine appointment, please let the receptionist know whether you will be attending F2F, or if you would prefer a telephone/video call so that they can note this in the appointment for the GP.

PLEASE NOTE – due to the need to manage a continually growing demand, if you are needing an on the day appointment for a clinically urgent/acute problem with a GP, this will still be a telephone call in the first instance, with the GP offering you a F2F appointment if clinically appropriate.

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.

Late For Your Appointment

Please attend your appointment on time, if you are late you may not be seen. If you are not seen you will not be able to rearrange your appointment until the next working day-except in the event of an medical emergency that requires immediate attention.

Interpreter

If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist and she will arrange this for you.

Home Visits

If you are housebound or too unwell to attend the surgery, you may ask for a home visit by contacting the surgery. It is helpful if such requests are made before 10.00 each day, as the doctors have to plan their rounds before leaving the surgery. Emergency home visits may be requested at any time.

Please be aware that a GP may telephone you before visiting to ensure that the visit is necessary. In some instances you may be visited by a member of the JET team (Joint Emergency Team) instead of by a GP if this is felt to be appropriate.
