When we are closed

Emergencies outside surgery hours are dealt with by Urgent Care Cambridge. All calls are passed to an experienced local general practitioner, who will offer telephone advice, arrange to see you at the Chesterton Hospital Surgery or visit you at home, whichever is most appropriate.

Our own doctors work sessions for Urgent Care Cambridge and may be on duty, but it is more likely that you will speak to a doctor from another practice. Please telephone the normal surgery number (01223 247288) and you will be offered an option to be diverted straight through to Urgent Care Cambridge where, for your own protection, your call may be recorded. Our answerphone message will also give you the Urgent Care Cambridge number (0330 123 9131) in case you do not have a touch tone phone.

NHS 111

111 online is a fast and convenient alternative to the 111 phone service and provides an option for people who want to access 111 digitally.

Your needs will be assessed and you will be given advice about whether you need:

  • Treat yourself at home
  • Go to a Primary Care Centre

If you need face to face medical attention you may be asked to attend a Primary Care Centre.
